Google foldable phone patent spotted, expected to launch next year

Google's foldable phone patent has been spotted, giving us a look at its design.

  • The device is expected to feature a design similar to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4.
  • The foldable phone from Google is expected to feature thick bezels.

Google has been working on its foldable phone for quite some time now, and the head of the Pixel division confirmed this as early as 2019. After a report last year hinted that the device would feature a 12.2MP primary camera, a patent filing revealed the device’s expected design.

According to a report by 91Mobiles, the device, which is expected to be named Pixel Notepad or Pixel Fold has been spotted on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) portal. The patent was reportedly filed in June 2021 and has been published now.

Google foldable phone design

The patent has revealed the design of the foldable device from Google. It is identical to the Galaxy Z Fold. However, it looks like the device will have considerably thicker bezels.

The device will fold in half and feature an external display. It is expected to feature a crease similar to the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold 4. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the device’s selfie camera will reportedly be placed in its bezels. Samsung used an in-display selfie camera for its recent offering.

The device is expected to be launched next year, and the design and specifications of the device may change by then. The patent application is already more than a year old, and a lot may have changed since then.

Will increase competition in the foldable phones segment

The introduction of the foldable phone from Google will significantly increase the competition in the foldable phones segment. This may also affect Korean giant Samsung, which is currently leading the foldable phones segment and occupies over 60% of the market share for foldable phones.

Xiaomi recently introduced the Mix Fold 2, a foldable smartphone with similar specifications to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The device was launched in China, and at the moment, it is not known if the device will be launched globally. If it does, it will offer an affordable alternative to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as it has been priced lower than Samsung’s foldable device.

Apple IPhone 14: Here Is Everything We Know About Pre-order Availability And Release Date

Apple has confirmed the date for its September launch event. The event is called Far Out and it is going to take place on September 7, 2022. At the event, the Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to reveal the new iPhone 14 series, including the vanilla iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, will the company reveal these smartphones simultaneously in India and if yes, when will they be released? Let's find out.

Apple iPhone 14 series launch date in India

Given that CEO Tim Cook recently mentioned that Apple has garnered great sales from India, it only makes sense for the company to release the iPhone 14 in India along with the global release. However, we Apple has only confirmed the date of the September launch event. There is no official information on when the iPhones will be available for pre-orders and when will Apple release them in the online and offline market. Well, although there is no official word on the same, speculating the availability based on the schedule followed by Apple last year might help.

Apple iPhone 14 series availability: Pre-order and release date

Have a look at iPhone 13 launch timeline

For a moment, let's journey back in time and rewatch the Apple event held on September 14, 2021, where Apple released the iPhone 13 lineup. At the end of the event, Apple mentioned that all the iPhones in the iPhone 13 series will be available to pre-order from September 17, 2022. Further, all the iPhones were available to purchase from September 24, 2022. To point out, the iPhone 13 models were available to purchase 10 days after the event took place.

The iPhone 12 followed a similar schedule

Just to be sure, let's ruffle through the previous Apple event as well, which was conducted on October 13, 2020. At the event, Apple revealed the iPhone 12 series, and two models including the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro were available to pre-order from October 16, 2020, and were available to purchase from October 23, 2020. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max were available to pre-order from November 6, 2020, and shipping began on November 13, 2020.

When will the iPhone 14 be available to pre-order?

Based on these dates, the company could take a 10 days gap between announcing the iPhone 14 series and releasing it on online and offline stores. Given that Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 14 series on September 7, 2022, at least some of the iPhones should be available to pre-order from September 10, 2022, and the same models should be available to purchase from September 17, 2022.

Due to adverse geopolitical conditions, some models in the iPhone 14 lineup might be delayed, just like the iPhone 12 Mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Even if that happens, there is a good chance that the company will release them by September end or the first week of October.

Readers should keep in mind that this is just an educated guess based on how Apple released its previous smartphone. The company has not confirmed these dates yet, and there is always a chance that it would follow a new launch timeline for the iPhone 14 models.

Samsung Galaxy A04 goes official with a 6.5" screen and 50MP camera

Samsung announced the Galaxy A03 last November, and nine months later, the company has quietly unveiled its successor - the Galaxy A04.

The Samsung Galaxy A04 looks similar to its predecessor. It sports an Infinity-V display and features two cameras on the back joined by an LED flash. However, the rear cameras aren't placed inside a camera island like the A03, and the flash is now positioned on the right side between the two cameras instead of the first shooter.

The display measures 6.5" diagonally and has HD+ resolution. Like the Galaxy A03, the Galaxy A04 also comes with a 5MP selfie unit and a 2MP depth sensor, but the primary camera gets a megapixel bump from 48MP to 50MP.

The Samsung Galaxy A04 is powered by an unnamed octa-core processor and runs Android 12-based One UI Core 4.1 out of the box. The smartphone has three RAM (4GB/6GB/8GB) and storage (32GB/64GB/128GB) options, and it also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 1TB.

The Galaxy A04 is a 4G smartphone and supports Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz) connectivity. It has four color options and packs a 5,000 mAh battery with an unknown charging speed.

Apple iPhone 14 Launch Soon: Everything You Can Expect At iPhone Launch Event Next Month

Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 14 series next month. Ahead of the launch, there is a lot of excitement around Apple’s next iPhone announcement and there are a bunch of reports out there around what Apple plans to launch during its event next month. A recent report had stated that Apple may launch the Apple iPhone 14 series earlier than expected, during an event on September 7. Given that there are only a few days left for the rumoured launch date, let us take a look at what you can expect during Apple’s next big showcase.

Apple iPhone 14 Series

With the iPhone 14 series, Apple is set to launch four models - the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This year, only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get the new Apple A16 Bionic chip, according to rumours. The Apple iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max, on the other hand, are said to get a tweaked version of the Apple A15 Bionic chip from last year.

This year’s biggest change, however, is said to be the design on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are said to ditch the notch that has become a trademark Apple design element, in favour of a hole-punch display. We have seen different renders of this hole-punch design, which could either be pill-shaped, or circular like in most Android devices these days.

Another significant thing to happen this year is that the Apple iPhone 14 series will be manufactured in India, and the India-made iPhone 14 models will be shipped “soon after" the China models. This comes as Apple plans to move production out of China due to uncertain geopolitical situation and strict COVID lockdowns that have hurt production in the recent past.

Apple Watch Series 8, Watch Pro

Apple also launches the Apple Watch alongside iPhones every year. This year, the company will launch the Apple Watch Series 8. The Apple Watch Series 8 is said to come with several new health features, and few reports have also mentioned that the smartwatch may come with a new design that will give the Apple Watch a completely new look. In terms of sensors, the Apple Watch Series 8 will come with the same sensors as the Apple Watch Series 7.

There are also rumours of an Apple Watch Pro, which is said to be a new beefed up variant of the Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Pro is said to come with a larger display, which is said to be about 7 percent bigger than the current size. The Apple Watch Pro is expected to come in a Titanium design.

AirPods Pro 2

Apple’s next-generation AirPods Pro have also been rumoured heavily to come this year. The Apple AirPods Pro 2 will come with several similarities with the first generation, but may come with an upgraded chip, that will help towards an improved audio quality. It is not known if the Apple AirPods Pro 2 will come with a new design, or keep the older design that was launched in 2019.

10th Gen iPad

The entry-level Apple iPad is also set to see a refresh during the Apple iPhone 14 launch event. The iPad 10th generation may come with a larger display than the current 10.2-inch size. The new iPad is rumoured to come with a similar design to the iPad Air and iPad Pro with thin bezels, and touch ID integrated into the power button. It may come with Apple’s A14 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone 12 series. The 10th-generation Apple iPad might also be launched in a separate event in October, where Apple is rumoured to launch new Mac computers and iPad Pro models.

Apple expands self repair programme to Mac notebooks with M1 chip

has expanded its self service repair programme to MacBook Air and MacBook Pro notebooks with th

e M1 family of chips.

The company said it will provide repair manuals and genuine parts and tools through the Self Service Repair Store, beginning with the US.

Self Service Repair for iPhone was launched earlier this year and the programme will now expand to additional countries -- beginning in Europe -- as well as additional Mac models later this year, Apple said in a statement late on Monday.

"Self Service Repair for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro offers more than a dozen different repair types for each model, including the display, top case with battery, and trackpad, with more to come," said the iPhone maker.

Customers who are experienced with the complexities of repairing electronic devices will be able to complete repairs on these Mac notebooks, with access to many of the same parts and tools available to Apple Store locations and Apple Authorised Service Providers.

Customers can send replaced parts back to Apple for refurbishment and recycling, and in many cases receive credit of their purchase by doing so, said Apple.

"For the vast majority of customers who do not have experience repairing electronic devices, visiting a professional repair provider with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair," the company added.

A global network of more than 5,000 Apple Authorised Service Providers supports more than 100,000 active technicians.

Lamborghini Urus Performante Unveiled; Pikes Peak Record Breaker Gets 657 Bhp

Highlights
line
  • Lamborghini Urus Performante gets the highest amount of carbon fibre on a car in its segment.
  • It is 47 kgs lighter than the standard Urus, and is 0.3 seconds faster to 100 kmph.
  • 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 gets 657 bhp, 16 bhp more than the Urus.

Automobili Lamborghini has taken the covers off its latest performance SUV, the Lamborghini Urus Performante. As the name suggests, the Urus Performante is based on the highly successful Lamborghini Urus SUV, and the SUV has received several changes which make it faster overall. Ahead of its unveil, the Lamborghini Urus Performante also paid a visit to the legendary Pikes Peak Hillclimb event, and it completed the summit in 10:32.064 seconds, setting a record for the fastest time set by a production SUV. Lamborghini Urus Performante displaced the initial record holder - Bentley Bentayga - and it went over 17 seconds faster than the luxury SUV.

The Lamborghini Urus Performante puts out a devilish 666 hp (657 bhp), which is 16 bhp more than the standard model's 641 bhp. The SUV uses the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 though, and the torque output also remains unchanged at a strong 850 Nm, which is available from as low as 2,300 rpm. The Performante also makes extensive use of carbon fibre components throughout the SUV, helping it shave 47 kgs off the kerb weight. This helps bring the 0-100 kmph time down to 3.3 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the standard Urus. Also unchanged is the SUV's 306 kmph top speed.

Apart from the increment in power, the Lamborghini Urus Performante has several notable changes over the Urus. The SUV now gets new steel springs which replace the air suspension, lowering the car by 20 mm. The SUV now also gets a 16 mm wider track to provide better handling, & new carbon fibre bodywork also increases the overall length of the car by 25 mm. The SUV also gets a new Aventador SVJ inspired rear spoiler, which increases the rear downforce by 38 per cent. The overall aerodynamic profile of the Urus Performante is also an evolution of the Urus, and the car is now more slippery through air & provides better engine cooling.

The Lamborghini Urus Performante gets an Aventador SVJ inspired rear wing, which adds 38% downforce.

The Urus Performante gets the three driving modes that were present on the Urus - Strada, Sport, & Corse - and also gets a brand new driving mode called Rally, which is specially tuned for loose dirt. This mode allows for a little more oversteer, thanks to the trickery of the anti-roll & damping systems, and allows you to slide the big fat four-wheel drive performance SUV. The

The Lamborghini Urus was the most affordable Lamborghini on sale in India, and it has sold over 200 units in the country. Thanks to its performance which is in the league of supercars while maintaining the tall profile synonymous to SUVs, the Urus is an ideal choice for the Indian roads, which is why it has been the most popular model from the Italian manufacturer. The Urus Performante takes all the things that the Urus did well, and takes them up a notch, and it wouldn't be a surprise of this model achieves even higher success than the Urus.

Galaxy Z Fold 4 cover display’s a small but good step in the right direction

If you’ve used a Galaxy Z Fold smartphone, you are probably one of many who complains about the narrow cover display. It’s nothing like what you see on regular phones – with Galaxy Z Fold devices, you often have to unfold the device and use the main 7.6-inch display to get things done, and that’s not always possible, especially for one-handed use.

That’s why many of us have been waiting for the day when Samsung will make a book-like foldable that has a normal smartphone screen outside and opens up into a tablet-sized device. But while Samsung hasn’t done that with the Galaxy Z Fold 4, the company has taken a step in the right direction.

Samsung has trimmed the bezels on both the cover and folding display, resulting in a 2.7mm and 3mm increase in width respectively. That’s not a lot (we’re talking about millimeters here), but in our early experience the outer screen is certainly a little easier to use, especially for typing.

Again, the difference in size between the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 4 cover screens isn’t huge by any stretch of the imagination, and seeing the phones side by side won’t reveal the difference to anyone but those with really keen eyes. But the difference is there, however slight, as we’ve discovered in the last couple of days that we’ve been had the pleasure of using the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

All that said, some of us would still love to see something like a Galaxy Z Fold XL that has a smartphone display with a standard aspect ratio. Yes, that will probably kill the prospect of one-handed use, but it can always be offset by things like the one-handed mode you find in pretty much all keyboard apps these days.

The best solution, though, is to not expect comfortable one-handed use with these devices at all, because that convenience demands too many trade-offs, like having to unfold the device to get anything productive done. Foldable devices, in my opinion, should be regular phones that turn into tablets. Chinese manufacturers seem to understand that, but Samsung doesn’t, and it is likely losing out on prospective customers as a result.

Still, it’s good to see the Korean giant taking some steps to address the usability of the Galaxy Z Fold smartphones’ cover display. It’s not enough to turn someone like me into a customer, but it is likely to be appreciated by those who do purchase a Galaxy Z Fold 4.

What about you? Does the narrow cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 or its predecessors continue to annoy you, or have you learned to live with it? Have you upgraded to the Galaxy Z Fold 4 from a Z Fold 2 or Z Fold 3 and felt the difference in the cover display’s ever-so-slight width increase? Let me know down in the comments!

Samsung Galaxy Fold4, Galaxy Flip4 foldable phone witness 50,000 pre-bookings in less than 12 hours

New Delhi: Samsung has witnessed a robust demand for its fourth-generation of foldables in India, registering more than 50,000 pre-bookings for Galaxy Fold4 and Galaxy Flip4 in less than 12 hours, Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President and Head of MX sales at Samsung India, said on Wednesday.

The record figures came on Day 1 of the pre-booking opening for foldables on August 16.

"Samsung is targeting to sell 1.5 times more foldable phones this year. We are confident of meeting our target because the new foldable phones come with huge upgrades as compared to last year," Pullan told IANS.

He attributed the huge pre-book success to the company's strategy to expand the foldable experience in India this time.

For Fold4 and Flip4, Samsung has expanded its retail network, taking the premium phones to over 10,000 cities, including tier 2 towns and further.

This is double the number of retail outlets as compared to last year for the foldable phones, according to Pullan.

Samsung has also employed more than 12,000 demo units of Fold4 and Flip4 in India to ensure that consumers get great experience with these devices before finalizing their purchase.

Apple iPhone 14 series launch delayed by a day, tech giant to release a slurry of devices on September 7

The iPhone 14 series from Apple are some of the most anticipated devices to be launched this year. The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, are turning out to be great devices.

Initial reports and leaks had suggested that the iPhone 14 series this year would be launched at Apple’s fall event, which was scheduled to take place on September 6. However, the most recent rumours suggest that Apple has had to push the launch event back by a day, and will now be launching the iPhone 14 series, along with a hoard of devices on September 7.

The new iPhones will kick off a busy fall product season, which will also include multiple new Macs, low-end and high-end iPads, and three Apple Watch models. However, it is very likely that Apple will be launching the new Macs and the new iPads at a separate event that is likely to take place in October.

The Cupertino-based tech giant typically announces the latest Apple Watches alongside their iPhone. The company usually releases the new iPhone in stores about a week and a half after it’s unveiled, and Apple is expected to stick to that pattern this year.

Smartphone sales across brands and across the world have begun to slow down, or in some cases dip drastically, given that consumers need to cope with inflation and shaky economies the world over. Despite that, Apple seems to be faring better than its competition. The iPhone has been selling well for the past couple of quarters. They have even signalled their suppliers that they don’t foresee a drop in demand, but an increase instead.

Some retail store employees have been told to prepare for a major new product release on September 16, so judging by that, shipments and deliveries of the iPhone 14 series will start on the same day.

Apple plans on streaming the event online, rather than holding an in-person gathering, and therefore continue with an approach it adopted at the start of the pandemic. Apple launches are highly polished affairs, and employees have already begun recording the presentation’s segments over the past few weeks if reports are to be believed.

Given that the official announcement from Apple is still about three weeks away, the company’s plans around the launch could change, even at the last minute - Apple has been known to do that. However, what we do know for sure, is that the first of Apple’s launch events will take place in the first week of September.

Musk sells Tesla shares worth $6.9 billion, cites chance of forced Twitter deal

By Hyunjoo Jin and Akriti Sharma

(Reuters) -Tesla Inc Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk sold $6.9 billion worth of shares in the electric vehicle maker, saying the funds could be used to finance a potential Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) deal if he loses a legal battle with the social media platform.

"In the (hopefully unlikely) event that Twitter forces this deal to close *and* some equity partners don't come through, it is important to avoid an emergency sale of Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock," he said in a tweet late on Tuesday.

Shares of the microblogging site rose 3.5% to $44.35 in premarket trading, but were still trading significantly below Musk's offer price of $54.20 per share. Tesla shares were up 1.6% at $863.1.

Musk in early July tore up his April 25 agreement to buy Twitter for $44 billion. Twitter has sued Musk to force him to complete the transaction, dismissing his claim that he was misled about the number of spam accounts on the social media platform as buyer's remorse in the wake of a plunge in technology stocks. The two sides head to trial on Oct. 17.

Following the announcement of the share sale on Tuesday, Musk took to Twitter and said "yes" when asked if he was done selling Tesla stock, adding he would buy it again if the Twitter deal does not close.

"The removal of the 'firesale' risk, the fact Musk has already raised cash in case of a Twitter decision going against him and the comment that he'll buy back stock if Twitter deal gets dropped all builds into a positive bias for Tesla," said Mark Taylor, sales trader at Mirabaud Securities.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The stock sale comes shortly after Musk said at the company's annual general meeting that Tesla was a "buying opportunity".

"Elon's sale of (Tesla shares) over the past three days significantly increases odds the (Twitter) deal gets done, albeit at a slightly lower price $50-$51/share," Gary Black, managing partner of Future Fund LLC, said in a tweet.

Musk, the world's richest person, sold $8.5 billion worth of Tesla shares in April and had said at the time there were no further sales planned. But since then, legal experts had suggested that if Musk is forced to complete the acquisition or settle the dispute with a stiff penalty, he was likely to sell more Tesla shares.

Musk sold about 7.92 million shares between Aug.5 and Aug.9, and now owns just under 15% of the automaker, according to Reuters calculations.

The latest sales bring total Tesla stock sales by Musk to about $32 billion in less than one year.

Tesla shares have risen nearly 15% since the automaker reported better-than-expected earnings on July 20, also helped by the Biden administration's climate bill that, if passed, would lift the cap on tax credits for electric vehicles.

Musk also teased on Tuesday that he could start his own social media platform. When asked by a Twitter user if he had thought about creating his own platform if the deal didn't close, he replied: "X.com"

WhatsApp Blocks Taking Screenshots of View Once Messages, Adds Privacy Tools

Another feature will enable users to exit a group silently without having to notify everyone.

Meta-owned WhatsApp is rolling out a feature to block capturing of a screenshot of 'view once messages' which disappear after the receiver reads them, the company said on Tuesday.

Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced new privacy features in Whatsapp giving the option to users to leave a group chat secretly and make the online presence visible to people of their choice.

“New privacy features coming to WhatsApp: exit group chats without notifying everyone, control who can see when you're online, and prevent screenshots on view once messages. We'll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations," Zuckerberg said in a statement.

Motorola shares extensive details on the Moto Razr 2022 and Moto X30 Pro

The launch of the Moto Razr 2022, X30 Pro and S30 Pro was pushed back to this Thursday, but the company has already revealed detailed specs for the new foldable and the X30 Pro. Here is a preview of what’s coming on August 11.

Motorola has ditched the iconic chin in favor of a larger display. The 6.7” inner display is a 10-bit panel with HDR10+ support, DC dimming and 144Hz refresh rate, the highest on a foldable yet.

The company has devised a gapless foldable design that minimizes the crease. When closer the display is folded in a teardrop shape with an inner radius of 3.3mm.

The hinge can hold the phone in a half open position and Motorola has several use cases for this. You can use it for multitasking, watching a video on the top half while chatting on the lower half. This also enables “tripod” mode, which holds the cameras at a certain angle, allowing you to shoot long time lapse videos or selfies without having to carry extra hardware.

Speaking of cameras, the main module has a 50MP with OIS. This is a 1/1.55” sensor with 1.0µm pixels (2.0µm with 4-in-1 binning). Next to it is the 13MP ultra wide camera (121°), which has autofocus allowing it to shoot macro images too at 2.8cm (about 1”). The selfie camera is punched into the main display, it has a 32MP sensor.

Going back to the external display, this generation it is larger – 2.7” in size – and it lets you swipe between 9 different widgets for at-a-glance info. It can be used to snap main camera selfies as well, of course.

Unlike the two previous models, the Moto Razr 2022 is a proper flagship with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. There will be three memory configurations on offer – 8/128GB, 8/256GB and 12/512GB.

Moving on to the Moto X30 Pro, this is the first phone with a 200MP camera, based on the 1/1.22” HP1 sensor, which offers up to 16-in-1 binning for 2.56µm effective pixel size. The high pixel count will allow for a wide range of lossless digital zoom too.

There is also a 12MP telephoto module with 2x magnification (f/1.6 aperture) that is based on the IMX663 sensor (1.22µm pixels). Also on the back is the ultra wide camera (117°) with a 50MP sensor and autofocus for macro mode. The front-facing camera has a 60MP sensor with 4-in-1 binning.

Like the Razr, the Moto X30 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which can be paired with 8/128GB, 12/256GB or 12/512GB memory. There is a vapor chamber and several copper blocks to guide heat away from the chipset.

The curved 6.7” display on the front has 144Hz refresh rate and 1,500Hz touch sampling rate. This is a 10-bit panel with HDR10+ support and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. It has 1,250 nits peak brightness and DC dimming.

Apple iPad 2022 CAD renders reveals design ahead of launch

Back in September 2021, Apple had announced its latest 9th generation of iPad. Now, the company is preparing to release its next gen iPads later this year. But prior to any official announcement, the CAD renders of the iPad 2022 has been spotted, revealing its design.

The CAD renders were exclusively shared by MySmartPrice. These images offers us a first look at the 10th generation of iPad and its design in its full glory. Previously, we had covered reports regarding the tablet finally switching to the USB Type C standard for charging and data transfer but these CAD renders do not confirm this feature. Looking at these images, we can also tell that the next gen model will be similar to the 9th gen iPads in terms of design, with the front camera on top and Touch ID on the bottom of the display.

Furthermore, the screen panel is also flanked by noticeable bezels on all four sides. On the rear, the renders depict a lone rear camera sensor like its predecessor. However, unlike the 9th gen iPads, the upcoming version will have a small oval shaped camera module, similar in design to the iPhone X series. This houses the single camera as well as an LED flash module. Apart from this, the one notable aspect on the back is the Cupertino based giant’s brand logo.

On the bottom of the device, we can see the speaker grilles, which are a part of the quad speaker setup, with the other two speakers being housed on the the top. We can see its charging port, but its covered in red, so it is unclear whether it is a Type C port or the Apple Lightning port. Based on what we know so far, the 10th gen iPad will be powered by the A14 chipset that was featured on the iPhone 12 series and could sport a larger 10.5 inch or 10.9 inch Retina display. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stick around for more updates.

Apple iPhone 14 price in India likely to start from Rs 63,000 - Check expected launch date, specifications and more

Apple iPhone 14 price: Apple is likely planning to bring 4 new iPhones--  iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max around 13-14 September. Ahead of the launch, a new report from IANS claimed that Apple's upcoming iPhone 14 base model is rumoured to cost $799 (around Rs 63,269.85), which is the same price as the iPhone 13.

"The move is aimed at boosting sales for the model. The global smartphone market has experienced a squeeze and the tipster said Apple is adjusting to coping with the reality, GizmoChina quoted a South Korean blog as saying. The source of information is said to come from a major US financial institution," according to IANS.

"The iPhone 14 lineup includes the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is the top of the pick. As per media reports, the tech giant has likely discontinued the 5.4-inch iPhone mini this year," the report further added.

While the Pro models will be powered by the A16 Bionic chipset, the non-Pro models will retain the A15 chip. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will combine a circular hole-punch cutout and a pill-shaped cutout for their camera setup and Face ID functionality.

A recent report said that Samsung Display will be applying different grades of materials on the OLED panels it will manufacture for the upcoming iPhone 14 series depending on the model tiers. It will use its latest and most advanced material set for the higher tier iPhone 14 models, while it will use its prior generation set for the lower tier ones. The move is being made to save costs.

Another report from IANS said that Apple is reportedly planning to ship its next-generation iPhone 14 simultaneously from factories in China and India. Recently, MacRumors in a report said that the rising component costs and Apple’s determination to differentiate Pro and non-Pro iPhones, will see the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max increase to $1099 and $1199 respectively. Also, the iPhone 14 may cost around $899, iPhone 14 Max at $999.

Reddit thinks this Kareena Kapoor ad with Manushi Chhillar is what Aamir Khan hinted at on Koffee With Karan

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor grabbed eyeballs with their appearance on Koffee with Karan season 7 episode 5. The actors, who will be seen together in their upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha, were the guests on the latest episode that dropped on Disney+ Hotstar on Thursday. During a segment on the Karan Johar show, Aamir spoke about how Kareena was not his first choice for the film. In fact, the ‘newbie’ Aamir was looking to cast in Laal Singh Chaddha featured with Kareena in an advertisement. Some Reddit users are convinced the ‘newbie’ is none other than Manushi Chhillar, former Miss World and actor. Kareena Kapoor and Manushi were seen together in a 2018 commercial for Malabar Gold, a jewellery brand. On the latest Koffee With Karan episode, Aamir said he was looking at the said ad with the film’s director Advait Chandan, in order to cast for Laal Singh Chaddha. WhatsApp New Feature May Soon Allow Your Group Admin to Delete Messages Sent By Anyone

Whatsapp, a Meta-owned instant messaging application, is exploring an interesting functionality. According to reports, Whatsapp will soon allow group admins to delete messages sent by anyone. Some pilot testers have already begun to receive the new feature. This upcoming feature will provide administrators more control over the communications and allow them to delete any messages that they deem inappropriate. With several spam messages moving around from group to group, this new capability may aid in reducing spam. Let’s take a closer look at the new Whatsapp beta update, new features and everything we know so far.

Whatsapp Group Admins May Soon Have More Controls

Whatsapp group administrators presently have relatively limited capabilities, however, this may change shortly. Admins can currently add or remove individuals, adjust how vanishing messages are configured, and control who can send messages. The Meta-owned messaging service will soon add the ability for admins to delete messages sent by anyone.

According to WABetaInfo, a future version of the messaging app may allow group administrators to dismiss messages sent by participants by long-tapping them and selecting the Delete for Everyone option. However, this time around, the chat will keep a placeholder for the deleted message that includes the administrator’s name.

WABetaInfo states that the deployment is gradual on the beta channel, and it may be some time before the mass of WhatsApp users accesses this function. If you want to check out the feature early on, make sure you’re signed up for the WhatsApp beta, and you could see it appear in the coming weeks.

You can verify if you’re part of the early beta group by attempting to delete an incoming message and seeing the option “delete for everyone.” It indicates that the functionality is available. The feature is currently available on WhatsApp beta for Android v2.22.17.12 and is accessible via the Google Play Beta program.

Zomato shareholder seeks up to $420m from block deal. Details here

An undisclosed shareholder of India’s Zomato Ltd. is seeking to raise as much as $420 million through a block sale, according to terms of the deal seen by Bloomberg News.

The Zomato shareholder is offering 612 million shares at between 48 rupees and 54 rupees each, the terms show. That represents a discount of between 2.8% and 13.6% to the stock’s closing price on Tuesday. At the bottom of the range, the holder would raise about $373 million. BofA Securities is the sole bookrunner.

Zomato raised $1.3 billion with its offering about one year ago, opening room for a slew of Indian startups that tapped investors through first-time share sales in the South Asian country. Shares of the Indian online food-delivery platform plunged last week following the expiry of a lock-up period for investors in the company prior to the offering.

Pre-IPO investors in the New Delhi-based company include China’s Ant Group Co., Info Edge India, Uber Technologies Inc. and Sequoia Capital. Indian daily Business Standard reported on Tuesday that Uber is the holder offering Zomato shares this week. Uber owns 612.2m shares in Zomato, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Zomato shares jumped 20% on Tuesday, the most for a session in more than a year, as a number of block trades changed hands after it released its quarterly performance report. The result showed a smaller-than-expected loss and revenue in line with analyst expectations.

OnePlus 10T unboxing video goes live a day before the phone itself does

The OnePlus 10T will be unveiled tomorrow, August 3, but “embargoes are overrated”, according to an unboxing video that arrives a day early. Note that the big box featured in the video is a reviewer’s kit, which includes additional accessories for testing. The retail package is the red box inside.

The phone that comes out of the box is the Moonstone Black colorway (buyers will also be able to pick Jade Green). The retail package contains a charger, an adapter rated at a whopping 160W, a USB C-to-C cable and a USB C (male) to A (female) adapter. OnePlus has already confirmed that the phone will charge at up to 150W (leaving a bit of headroom).

Note that this is for countries with 220V electrical grids, in ones with 110V grids the max power will be reduced (e.g. the OnePlus 10 Pro goes from 80W at 220V to 65W at 110V). Either way, the phone will have a 4,800mAh battery.

With the accessories sorted, the video goes on to do a size comparison with the Nothing Phone (1), iPhone 13 Pro Max, Galaxy Note20 Ultra. Going back to the charging for a moment, the video confirms that while the 10T will have faster wired charging than the 10 Pro, it lacks wireless charging.

The video goes on to show off a couple of OnePlus cases, one with a distinctive design, the other going for a plain black.
